Yesterday I had a AAE -6 error coming constantly when I hit playback. I am working in windows 8.1 environment. I committed my mix to one track to free up resources, because I had to record one more track. I deleted all the tracks and removed plugins.
The AAE-6 error persisted and in System Usage the main CPU display pumped between 0% and 100% wildly, 100% causing AAE-6 error. The memory and virtual processor percentages remained under 10%
The problem dissappeared after I restarted Pro Tools. Didn't do anything else. The CPU value didn't pump any more and everything worked fine.
Is it possible that there is some resource/memory allocating/deallocating bug that cumulates causing a lot of problems reported in thes threads. Obviously when you have a tons of RAM, maybe some of those problems are avoided most of time?
Avid, please hurry up. Something wrong still in 12.3.1 program codes. Just buyed extra RAM to extend my 6GB up to 12GB, hope I get along with less problems. But I am still skeptic, the RAM indicators where not running red at all in this case.
