Hello all,
So, this post production mixing stage I work on which has your standard 3-system setup, has an annoying issue I can't seem to figure out. Our dialog and effects mixers like to work independently of each other, and the dialog mixer likes to put the stem recorder system on satellite link with him, since the video is also playing from said stem recorder system to be projected on the big screen. Meanwhile, the effects mixer works on his own, with his video on his local system playing in a little window.
Basically, the dialog mixer has the recorder system linked to him, and the effects mixer works on his own. Both of their systems output to the recorder system, which is on live input, and the recorder system outputs to the speakers.
The problem is that whenever the dialog system hits play, the recorder's live input is briefly interrupted which makes it very difficult for the effects mixer to work. This interruption also happens when the recorder hits play, so it is obviously the recorder system that is the culprit here. The mixers tell me that no other stage they work on has this issue. The playback engine on the dialog and effects systems is HD Native, while the recorder is TDM. Is there anything I can do to stop the recorder system from going briefly silent on its live input when starting playback?
