I just got the 11R, and hooked it all up and began exploring. I played around with the presets, and then went to record. I had created a session in PT 10, using my other interface, set at 48.8K. It would not open:eek:! It gave me a generic message about sampling rate, and how it could not open the session. The sampling rate in PT was grayed out, so I began investigating. Here is what I found:
It seems that the windows drivers (up-to-date latest drivers) are completely functional, but in accessing playback and recording devices the only option was 16/44.1, 24/44.1,32/44.1
This could not be changed to 48.8K through this control panel
I then used the 11R control panel app, but the sampling rate was locked there also. I attempted different methods found on this and other forums, until I finally found the solution. Here it is -
*make sure the 11R is connected to the system and powered on throughout this procedure.
1. Open the windows audio window, (right click the little speaker icon in the lower right tray), select "playback devices"
2. a new window pops up, listing all the current audio devices attached to the system. Right-click on all of the 11R entries and choose "disable". While you are doing this, the popup menu that allows you to disable the devices also has an entry to show the disabled devices, and you will want to have this checked, as you will be enabling them once you set the new sample rate.
3. Switch over to "recording devices", and disable all the 11R entries, making sure that "show disabled devices is checked. You should still see the I/O of the 11R, but they should all be disabled.
4. Open the 11R utility in Control Panel. If you followed these steps and disabled all 11R I/O, you will now be able to change the sample rate through this utility.
5. Go back into "playback devices/recording devices", and enable all I/O. You should now have the desired sampling rate set. Close the windows, it's time to get back to recording!
I know this is kind of complex, and kind of a pain, but after doing it once or twice, it is not that complex. Just don't expect to be able to give this process to someone over the phone!
I though about calling Avid about this, but I figured I would "mouse around" instead of sitting on hold. My 20 years of working with digital audio on PC and Mac paid off, even though it was a bit of trial and error. I hope this helps!:-)
