This has been asked numerous times, but has yet to ever be responded to by Avid in any way.
For those like myself who are on the Edu 99 a year 4 year upgrade plan, what happens at the end of the 4 years?
Last year I bought the 4 year PT Vanilla plan. So my first year to upgrade is this year.
2015 - Year 2 of 4 Year Plan 99 Bucks
2016 - Year 3 of 4 Year Plan 99 Bucks
2017 - 4 of 4 Year Plan 99 Bucks
2018 What Happens
If I want the next version of PT, do I have to buy a full retail version of PT or can I just keep paying 99 a year or whatever the going rate is at that time?
In previous years, once the Edu version runs out, it could not be upgraded. So at the end of the 4 years, you could no longer upgrade it beyond where it left off at the end of the 4 years.
Other forum members have indicated that now, all I would have to do is continue to pay 99 bucks and I would continue to get upgrades indefinitely as long as I paid the annual fee. I'm sure by then it will be more than 99 bucks.
Here is why it so important to me. No way I'm ever upgrading my PTHD license, due to Avid being out of their freaking minds, but I digress and I don't want to derail this thread base on that.
In addition to being on the Edu plan, I also have a Copy of PTMP that I can pay 199 and upgrade to PT12. If I can just continue to upgrade my current Edu version after the 4 years, there is no reason to upgrade my PTMP version.
If I can't continue to upgrade my EDU version it makes more sense to forget my Edu version and upgrade my PTMP version.
I hope I have made myself clear. So AVID can you please answer this question.
