Hi folks.
I'm getting close to retiring from my day job and while I still have some play money I want to upgrade my audio front end. Currently using a FF800 and its been great but GAS strikes and so I am looking at either
Fireface UFX
Or
Metric Halo ULN-8
Obviously the RME is known for its great drivers and Total Mix software and as far as I can tell the UFX conversions great if not the BEST.
The MH stuff has a rep for Awesome press and converters but I've read mixed reviews as to its fx processing. Driver stability ? other concerns?
In terms of long term , Are there any concerns about either company's survival.
In this day and age is there a discernible sonic difference between the two units?
Any thoughts or advice appreciated.
I have some nice external pre's, Sonic Farm Creamer plus and Neve 5012
This is not a commercial enterprise and most of what Im am doing these days is acoustic traditional music.
Thanks as always for your thoughts.
