Had some weird CPU spikes and resulting audio driver failure casein crackling audio until a restart... then all over again.
Soloing any track in the session would cause CPU to jump to over 100% and never get back to stable.
I removed the Avid EQP-1 from the session and when solo CPU only went up a few notches (still seems weird but not a deal breaker.)
So I have since removed all 3 Pultec plug ins from my plug ins folder. thinking 3 plug ins designed back in the day and if one is showing bad signs then why risk it.
So just passing this along... I don't use very often but wonder if just being loaded could have been subtly causing havoc in the background...
