As Pro Tools has improved going 64 so I am in the process of building my next computer. I have a full tower Cooler Master HAF 932 the motherboard is an Asus Sabertooth Mark 1 Z97. The cpu is an i7 4790k 4ghz quad core 8 thread. The memory is Crucial Ballistix 1600 DDR3 ram. The Graphics card is a GTX 760 and last so far a 1200w Power supply.
Now this is a Sata III 6gb/s motherboard. I will have at least 4 Drives (1) for Windows 7 ULT OS, programs and plugins (2) for the Virtual Instrument Libraries (3) for Recording and Playback and (4) Storage and Backup.
I would like (1) feed back on similar systems and how they are performing (2) suggestions on drives: SSD's as advised should never use over 50 percent of their storage space so if I get a 1Tb SSD only 500Gb is available. Will any 7200RPM 64MB 6Gb/s Drive be sufficient? I do not want shouda coulda woulda regrets after the build. Yet there is no need to place a drive that the motherboard has no effect on such as if available a 12 Gb/s is beyond the design of the motherboard.
