How To Import Session to New Session Without Plugins?

Ok, so hopefully this is possible...

I have a session I was working on where I did first rough mix. Later on, I now have a go to template setup with some standard plugins already in place. What I want to do is create a new session from this template and then import the data (audio and midi) from the session where I had a first rough mix.

I tried to do this by opening Pro Tools and selecting to a new session from template. So far so good. I then went to file import and selected whatever the option is to import from another session. I matched the tracks (they both actually have the same tracks anyway for the most part) and then it imported the data. All worked great, except I didn't want it to import the plugins too.

What I want is it to import all the audio and midi and put them on the same respective tracks in the same place, but leave the plugins out of it allowing the plugins in my template to remain. Make sense?

I know I could just open up my session with the rough mix and delete all the plugins and then place the same ones manually I have in my template, but what a pain. Truth is though, I probably could had done that 2 times by now in the amount of time I've spend trying to figure this out.

So, to recap...

I have a rough mix with plugins. I have new template with different plugins. I want a new session based on this template with the audio and midi from the rough mix session. Doable?

Thanks,

Doug D.
