Taking the Plunge into SSD land - best route to take?

Hey everyone,

I am currently running PT 11 on a 2013 Mac Pro 6-core with 16gb ram. I am running off 2 HDDs (one for audio, one for samples) in an external OWC thunderbolt enclosure. I am wanting to speed things up a bit with SSDs but am trying not to break the bank on it.

I can't tell if I should keep my enclosure and go the SATA III route or scrap my enclosure and go the PCIe Flash route with something like the Lacie Little Big Disc Thunderbolt 2. It's pretty pricey for just 2 500GB drives though... And do I really need THAT much speed for working with audio? Also, I'd like to have 1TB just for my samples drive, so I have plenty of room to grow.

For SATAIII solution I've been looking at the Samsung 850 Evo and Pro. I can't tell how big of a real world difference the Pro vs. Evo would make except just cost more.

Basically, I need guidance from an SSD guru. I'd like to keep my OWC Thunderbolt 1 dual drive enclosure if I can, but I also don't want being stuck with SATAIII being a bottleneck if technology is already moving more toward PCIe, and it would make a significant real world difference for me.
