Instrument midi to another track?

I was pretty sure this worked for me before and I'm puzzled as to why I can't get it to work now, Am I insane? I'm trying to send midi from Reaktor sequencers, Maschine midi out and consequence midi out and thesys midi out to another instrument on another track and I can't get it to work. The tracks in the routing drop down say Reaktor midi out 1 and instrument midi in etc but it doesn't receive anything? I was pretty sure AAX64 could route midi for these instruments. I'm on Windows 8.1. Can someone please shine a light on this for me?
