I've had my eye on this for awhile and gotten some helpful advice along the way from DUC members. Just wrapped up a big project, got the $$$ in hand, planning to buy the 'new' (2013) MacPro. 6 Core (4 core base model upgraded to 6 core).
It's frustrating that PT11 hasn't yet been approved for Yosemite, but it is what it is. I've got $$$ and time to make the switch right now; after the holidays my schedule will get crazy again; waiting any longer just won't be practical.
This will be a big step up for me and it will be the first time - for as long as I've been using Pro Tools - that I'll have PT on more than one computer. I've been working successfully with PT11 on my MBP and I intend to keep that going.
A few questions for those of you who've been down this road already:
Based on forum reading, I have in mind that it's better to do a fresh download and install of PT11 rather than 'migrate' PT11 from my MBP. True?
Assuming that's true, order of operations: I'm thinking to download and install the iLock software and hardware drivers first, then PT11, then deal with all the plugins one by one. I have many plugins and not all of them are iLock authorized, so I assume many hours spent re-downloading plugin software and getting re-authorized on the new, 2nd computer. Anyone have any tips for streamlining this process?
Once it's all up and running, aside from keeping track of my iLock, are there any other considerations I should be aware of when running PT on more than one computer?
Thanks for taking time to read.
