I have recently purchased a used PT system, spec as follows:
Apple MacPro 2 x 2.8GHz Quad-core Xeon
14GB RAM
OSX 10.6.8
HD2 PCIe cardset
Pro Tools 8 HD
Control|24
2 x 96 I/O
I am new to Pro Tools (and Apple Macs) however I seem to be getting to grips with it all nicely, PT seems very easy to use and intuitive so far. I have some intermittent issues with the desk, but I will cover these under a seperate post.
Anyway the purpose of my post: I have also just purchased and installed Addictive Drums 2 on the system, only to discover that it only works on PT10 and newer! So my question, what is the most cost-effective way to upgrade to PT10 from PT8? Will it work ok on the above system, and is it compatible with the Control|24 (I've heard somewhere there are compatibility issues with PT11)?
