The S6, S3, and Artist series all share Eucon, but each control surface has a different set of problems. For instance, changing banks on the S3 and Artist Mix control surface has major problems that the S6 doesn't have. Since the S6, S3, and Artist control surfaces are different, the control surface/Eucon programming is different for each control surface. Venue S3L-X doesn't use Eucon, and has very few problems, but change from Live to Studio mode for a PT session, and the weird S3 behavior begins (dead faders, bank changes on the S3 control surface don't track the PT window, channel bank encoder displays show the wrong parameter, etc.), so IMO the problems unique to the S3 using PT 11 or 12 lie in the S3/Eucon programming. IME, the problems are much worse with some third party plugins (Kontakt 5, Omnisphere). The tables are different for each different control surfaces, so the problems are different. I have far fewer problems on my S3 if I don't use third party plugins. My guess is that the assignment tables that Eucon uses are being corrupted by rogue plugins (or conversely, Eucon is not properly handling what should be valid parameter changes from a plugin). I'm not saying that all the problems are from third party plugins, but some of them certainly are.
Now, stepping out of the wayback machine, Digi 003 console and 003 rack run fine (dare I say, perfectly) with PT12. The difference is Eucon.
How many PT12 problems are really Eucon problems? Comparing the S3 in Live mode, and the Digi 003 running PT12, vs. S3 in Studio mode, the S6, and Artist Mix running PT12, it looks to me like PT12 problems are really Eucon problems. Time for a tiger team to work on Eucon.
