i don't understand the mentality around here. this is software... it must remain current to keep pace. there is no other company i know of that tries to maintain software... say 10-15 yrs old.
sorry that staying up with the times costs money... but them's the breaks in life. not being pompous... because i certainly don't have plenty of money to throw around but i understand the facts of life also.
i think most of you should in fact be thanking avid for keeping you supported as long as they have. if you don't want to move on... then don't... end of story. avid should quit supporting old out of date software past a certain point just like every other software company in the world. it is not feasible and is not a sound business model. the plain and simple truth is... you invest in the future... not the past.
