MC Mix "Available" trouble

{SOLVED! See my own reply below} "Claimed by" only says 'available" instead of naming my computer in the EuControl settings. Because of this I can't update the firmware of the MC MIX as required with the new Avid drivers. If I restart EuSettings from the icon as specified by Avid, the MC Mix will briefly show my computer under "claimed by" for a second and then goes right to "available". My computer is showing under the "workstations" tab as attached. I've tried reattaching, restarting settings, rebooting, removing the surface and the computer from the settings software and they do come back...but the surface only shows "available". Can anyone please help?

Equipment: New Mac Pro, 10.2.2, latest Artist series Avid EuControl software download 3.3.2. Ethernet from MacPro to router to MC Mix.
