New User: Never been able to load pro tools 12

I've been working on this issue for about 2 weeks now. I downloaded all of the plugins, software, etc. from Avid. The purple screen pops up and loads, (pretty slowly though) it goes to a completely greyed out screen, a few minutes later the dashboard appears, after clicking through it, grey screen again. All of this takes about 20-30 minutes and I never actually get to actual program stuff. I'm very unfamiliar with computers, pro tools, everything. I've already tried to see if it was a plug in by doing the test, problem persists. I completely deleted and redownloaded everything, same thing. Getting really desperate, any help would well, help.
