Hey guys,
New comer here, so cheers to yall :) !
I regularly have iLok-related problems when launching Pro Tools (11 & 12). The start-up purple video pops up and... nothing happens, until another pop-up window appears to ask me to "activate" my iLok licences.
This is a recurring bug and, after contacting the iLok support team, I received the following message :
"What you are describing sounds like there is a communication error between your iLok and your computer. Here are two possible fixes that may help you regain connectivity with your iLok:
- We have had some reports of this happening when Native Instruments Hardware Agent is running on the system. If you are running the NI Hardware Agent, please update to the latest version or remove it from the computer to see if this solves the issue.
- Try connecting the iLok to the computer via a powered USB 2 hub."
I'm not using any "native instruments hardware agent" (whatever the f- that is), and the problem's still occurring even when using a powered USB 2 hub.
Anyway, here's the quickest fix to this time-consuming nerve-breaking recurring problem :
- Launch the iLok manager,
- Log into your iLok account,
- And now, prepare your hand for some heavy exercises : plug your iLok key to your computer. Is the iLok icon displayed in the iLok manager appearing as active ? If not, unplug and replug. Do it until it finally appears as being active.
One useful tip : if it doesn't immediately appear as being "active" (that's to say, displayed as being active - with bold characters and stuff), just unplug it and don't waste any second waiting for something to happen, because nothing will happen.
So, in a word : plug and unplug as fast as you can to overcome this eff-in time-consuming problem as quick as possible.
I hope this will be helpful for some,
Please do share your own techniques you have any that could enable us avoid this problem !
Cheers
