using UAD Apollo as hard FX inserts?

Does anyone here use the Apollo as an FX hardware device through the UAD console and light pipe? I love my HDX setup for the low latency operation and I collaborate often with people that use UAD... so it would be helpful to have some of their plugins... but I'm wondering if instead of just getting a satellite for hosting them I should get an apollo and then be able to actually track through some of their plugins using the lightpipe feed as inserts. feasible?
