12.3 vanilla vs 8HD

Just wondering if anyone can advise me. Im running pro tools 8 hd, on a powerpc mac, at the studio and 12.3 Vanilla on intel, Yosemite, at home. Do you think my vanilla setup could replace my hd setup? Im considering a system swap as I'm missing some of my plugins for mixing and like many of the current features such as clip trims.

My main concern is problems such as latency during tracking. I don't tend to use plugins during live tracking. However I do full live band tracking at times, up to 24 simultaneous audio tracks and the usual over dubs, dropins etc.
