Problem with input monitoring in 12.2.1

hey everyone

I'm running into a new problem since upgrading from 12 to 12.2.1

I am unable to audition audio without actually recording. I've always been able to just hit play and audition audio in low latency monitoring mode without recording. But since upgrading to 12.2.1 i've lost that ability.

i see signal on the meter but can't hear it. I've checked the I/O and my monitor path is set to analog 1-2.

is this a bug or did something change that i'm unaware of?

I'm using an 003 as an interface. headphones plugged into the front headphone jacks.

totally stumped. any ideas?
